Lawyer requests suspended sentence for former NCB employee in $75.4m fraud
ST ANN, Jamaica – A sentencing hearing is now underway at the St Ann Parish Court for former National Commercial Bank (NCB) employee Khadene Thomas, who fleeced several of the institution’s customers of tens of millions of dollars.
At the hearing on Wednesday, Thomas’s attorney Mathew Hyatt asked the court for a suspended sentence.
Thomas was charged with larceny and offences under the cybercrime act in January, 2023.

In court, it was revealed that during a two-year stint with NCB’s wealth advisor department, she forged clients’ signatures on a debit instrument then debited their accounts and transferred funds to several accounts, including hers.
Thomas is said to have stolen US$407,472.47 along with JMD$10,159,310.04, totalling a sum of JMD$74.5 million.
She pleaded guilty to the charges in February.
