Bailey included in Reggae Boyz squad for Copa America
Aston Villa Winger Leon Bailey has been surprisingly included in the Reggae Boyz 26 man squad for the 2024 Copa America tournament starting next week.
The 26 year old hasn’t played for Jamaica since last November against Canada after he was suspended by head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson for the Concacaf Nations League finals in March for breaking curfew.
Bailey subsequently announced he’d be taking a break from the national team but is expected to make a return to the team for the tournament.
Captain Andre Blake, who recently underwent surgery, has also been included with hopes he can play in the latter part of the tournament.
Other notable inclusions are winger Demarai Gray and Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock.
The Reggae Boyz opening game against Mexico kicks off next Saturday. They then take on Ecuador and Venezuela in their final group games.
Only the top two will advance to the knockout stages.
