Sandals boost for Black River Primary students
DEMONSTRATING their ongoing dedication to mental health awareness and holistic development, members of the Sandals South Coast team recently visited Black River Primary and Infant School in St Elizabeth to participate in its Girls’ and Boys’ Day activities.
Female and male representatives from the resort engaged fifth- and sixth-grade students in fun activities including games and discussions focused on interacting with the opposite gender, maintaining proper hygiene, building self-confidence, and pursuing their dreams.
“As we celebrated Girls’ Day, the Sandals South Coast team inspired my classmates and I to pursue our dreams. I want to be a veterinarian, and this experience has motivated me to stay focused on this goal,” said Celene Robinson, a sixth-grade student at the school.
Hoping to continue this mentorship programme and maintain a focus on both the educational and holistic development of the students, Ashley Crisp, public relations manager at Sandals South Coast, stated that these efforts represent just the initial steps in this partnership.
“We have increased the number of initiatives of this nature in our schools. We hope that, even in the smallest of ways, we can positively impact the minds of the younger generation to develop emotionally intelligent and brave women and men of the future,” she added.
Expressing gratitude to the Sandals South Coast team, Daphne Jones-Foster, guidance counsellor at the institution, noted that the input made this year’s initiative another successful staging.
“The level of professionalism and empathy shown to our students was of the utmost importance, and we say thank you to the men and women who took the time to sit with our students. We appreciate their efforts in preparing our students for the future and look forward to a continuous partnership to guide our boys and girls,” said Jones-Foster.
