Multi award-winning Jamaican actress Sheryl Lee Ralph made good on her promise to Whoopi Goldberg to attend the Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit Reunion. On Wednesday The View hosted the reunion with Kathy Najimy and Wendy Makkena and musical leaders Marc Shaiman and Mervyn Warren.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the film, Ralph live reacted to a recent meme — a Sister Act 2 scene with Ralph’s character Florence — that has been making the rounds on social media. Florence tells her daughter, “Singing does not put food on the table…pay the bills…if you want to win in life then keep your nose in them books and out of the cloud”. In between each statement, the meme shows compilations of Ralph singing over the years. With tears in her eyes, Ralph shared that she channelled her Jamaican mother in that scene and if she was able to see [her acting], she would say “Laad God Jesus, yuh good girl”.
At Ralph’s visit to The View in February, Goldberg extended an invitation to Ralph to attend the reunion which was in the planning stages at the time. Goldberg went further to ask Ralph if she would want to be a part of Sister Act 3 which is in the works. Ralph gets emotional as the audience applauds the public invitation.
