Cigarette prices increase
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The prices of cigarettes have increased.
Figures from Carreras Limited indicate that Pall Mall has risen from $6,840 per carton to $8,250, while Craven A and Matterhorn have gone from $10,820 per carton to $12,620.
Carreras Limited is the leading marketer and distributor of cigarettes and tobacco-related products in Jamaica. A carton contains 10 packs of 20 cigarettes.
In March, the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) reported that the consumer price index for the ‘Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics’ division increased by 0.3 per cent. STATIN noted a 0.2 per cent increase in the ‘Tobacco’ group, with a point-to-point inflation rate of 4.4 per cent.
