NCB defeat RGD in Presidential Cup domino
In a tense, dramatic, and exhilarating battle of dominoes, National Commercial Bank (NCB) defeated Registrar General’s Department (RGD) 95-89 to win the Presidential Cup on Friday.
RGD, the Civil Service champions, started strong, but NCB, the corporate champions, rallied in the second half to win by six points. The match was played at NCB’s Wellness Centre in Kingston, with NCB using home advantage to their benefit.

NCB swept all four tables and re-entered the race, ending the half with 45 points, just four points behind RGD’s 49, setting the stage for a thrilling second half.
As expected, the second half was a real nail-biter as RGD extended their lead, winning three tables to NCB’s one. However, as the game progressed, NCB appeared to be the more settled of the two teams, and they began to demonstrate their abilities. The lead changed hands six times, with RGD pulling ahead by five points at one point. But NCB made a stunning comeback, sweeping all four tables to trail by just one point, 67-66. The tension was palpable, the crowd on the edge of their seats as the game hung in the balance.
The final moments of the game were intense. Sasha-Gaye Johnson and Stefan Cooper, NCB’s dynamic duo, won two crucial derbies games in quick succession, putting their team ahead at 90-88. With time running out, NCB managed to maintain their lead, ultimately winning the game by six points as the final whistle blew. The crowd erupted in cheers, celebrating NCB’s thrilling comeback victory.
