Flooding forces suspension of face-to-face classes at Muschett High
TRELAWNY, Jamaica— Face-to-face classes were suspended at Muschett High Wednesday morning following heavy rains that resulted in flooding on a section of Wakefield Road in Trelawny, the route to the school.
Acting Principal Morisal Small Walker explained that the decision was made to conduct classes online for the school’s 1,300 students after the road became impassable to small vehicles.
Heavy rains battered sections of the Wakefield community between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, leading to the accumulation of water on a section of the roadway leading to the school.
While the floodwaters have since receded, smaller vehicles now have access to the roadway.
Last November, administrators were compelled to provide virtual classes after floodwaters disrupted access.
The heavy rainfall across Jamaica is attributed to a Tropical Wave, according to a report from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica on Tuesday.
