Montreal Reggae Extravaganza set for October 12
October is a month for honoring heroes in Jamaica, and Kings of Kings Productions will be doing the same in Canada.
On October 12, the organisation will stage the Montreal Reggae Extravaganza in that city, at a venue to be announced soon. This show is a precursor to the Toronto Reggae Ambassadors Awards and Concert, scheduled for the following day.
The Montreal show will feature top reggae artistes in concert, while Toronto Reggae Ambassadors Awards and Concert honors a number of stalwarts in Jamaican music.
Some of those legends (who will be named as showtime approaches) made their mark on the Canadian reggae scene.
Kings of Kings Productions is led by Colin “Iley Dread” Levy, a Jamaican who has been an integral player in Canada’s reggae movement for over 30 years.
He started Kings of Kings Productions in 1995, five years after settling in Canada. That company has produced songs by a number of top acts including Dennis Brown, Sanchez and Norris Man.
The National Honours and Awards ceremony, which acknowledges the achievements of Jamaicans, takes place in Kingston in October.
