Shericka Jackson to contest sprint double at JAAA Trials
KINGSTON, Jamaica –Two time Jamaica national sprint double champion, Shericka Jackson, has confirmed that she will be defending her titles at this month’s Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association’s (JAAA) national championships.
Jackson, who will seek to improve on her fifth place finish at Thursday’s Bislett Games when she competes in Sunday’s Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, says she will run both events at the Jamaican Championships set for June 27-30 at the national stadium.
She made the announcement during Saturday’s pre-meet press conference.
The two-time World Athletics Championships gold medallist has run just three times so far this season, running two 200m races after opening up her season with a 100m at the national stadium on May 4th.
Jackson, who also won medals in the 100m at the last two World Athletics Championships and at the Tokyo Olympic Games, will be one of 10 Jamaicans who will be competing at the BAUHAUS-Galan at Olympic stadium in Stockholm, Sweden.
Rushell Clayton, Andrenette Knight and Janieve Russell will contest the women’s 400m hurdles; Shanieka Ricketts and Kimberly Williams are down for the women’s triple jump; Danniel Thomas-Dodd and Fedrick Dacres will contest the women’s shot put and men’s discus throw respectively; while Natasha Morrison and Ryiem Forde are down for the women’s and men’s 100m.
