Blackwood to captain Reggae Girlz against Brazil
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Veteran defender Deneisha Blackwood has been named captain of the Jamaica senior women’s football team to face Brazil in the first of their two friendly games in Recife on Saturday.
Allyson Swaby had originally been named captain of the team after they arrived in Brazil earlier in the week but was not fit enough to play in the first game. She should be ready for the second game on Tuesday in Salvador.
It is also reported that striker Jody Brown who is also struggling with her fitness, was named to the bench and could be called on if needed.
Meanwhile, head coach Hubert Busby has named a strong starting team of goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer, Blackwood, Vyan Sampson, Chantelle Swaby, Atlanta Primus, Trudy Carter, Kayla McKeena, Konya Plummer, Peyton McNamara and Tiffany Cameron.
