Capleton ignites City Splash with powerful performance
Performing in the UK for the first time in 13 years, Capleton delivered an incredible performance that left over 30,000 fans almost spellbound at the recently-held City Splash Festival.
Dressed in a head-to-toe shiny bronze outfit, Capleton radiated a powerful energy which seemed to chase away the last of the grey skies hovering over the venue in Brockwell Park.
“None ah dem no badder than me,” he deejayed as he did Tun It Up while the fans did the lion paw, punching their hands at the grey skies.
He could do no wrong as he reeled off positive testimonies and community-centric messages of self-belief, self-actualization and personal power in between mega hits and cult classics like Slew Dem, Raggy Road and Jah Jah City. At one point, he paused and turned the microphone to the audience as they sang ‘Or Wah’ word for word.
The ‘King of Fire’ delivered his signature high jumps and kicks that ignited the crowd and at the end of the night, many fans took to social media to name Capleton as their festival highlight.
Other performers included Shenseea, Busy Signal, Anthony B and Queen Omega, a reggae singer born in Trinidad.
