Rushell Clayton leads sweep in Oslo Diamond League
KINGSTON, St James— World leader Rushell Clayton led a Jamaican sweep of the podium places in the women’s 400m hurdles at Thursday’s Wanda Diamond League meeting, the Bislett Games at Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway.
Clayton, who easily won in 54.02 seconds, was the only Jamaican winner on the programme as two-time World Athletics champion Shericka Jackson was a shock fifth place finisher in the women’s 200m.
World Championships finalists Andrenette Knight (54.63 seconds) and Janieve Russell (55.07 seconds) were second and third respectively in the women’s 400m hurdles, both in season best times.
Jackson, who was running her second 200m of the season, never challenged the leaders and trailed home in 22.97 seconds, the slowest she has run since 2019 when she clocked 23.72 seconds running into a massive head wind of -4.8m/s at the Queens/Grave Jackson meet on January 26.
Natoya Goule ran a season’s best 1:59.10 seconds for second in the women’s 800m while Rohan Watson also ran a season’s best 10.23 seconds (0.4m/s) for sixth in the men’s 100m with Yohan Blake placing seventh in 10.29 seconds.
Fedrick Dacres was sixth in the men’s discus throw with a best of 65.06m.
