Flanker, Granville complete St James/VM U-13 semi-finalists
TUCKER, St James — Former winners Flanker Primary and Granville Primary completed the semi-finalists of the St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Under-13 competition with contrasting wins over Mount Salem Primary and Howard Cooke Primary in their respective quarter-final games at Wespow Park on Tuesday.
Everald Lindsay scored a hat-trick to lead Flanker Primary to a 5-0 thrashing of Mount Salem in their game, while Granville Primary got by Howard Cooke Primary 4-3 on penalty kicks after they played out a 1-1 result.
They will join defending champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary and Barracks Road Primary in Friday’s semi-finals which are also be played at Wespow Park.
Lindsay scored in the 28th, 40th and 55th minutes, while Donovan Martin scored in the 39th and Malike Blake in the 54th for Flanker Primary.
In the second game, Granville Primary handed Howard Cooke Primary their first loss of the season during a game which went to a penalty shoot-out.
Omarion Williams gave Granville Primary the lead in the 24th minute, but an own goal conceded by Jemire Bundy, five minutes into added time, saw the contest go to penalty kicks to separate the teams.
On Monday, champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary conceded their first goal of the season in their seventh game, but held off Catherine Hall 2-1 to book their place.
Donovan Carey opened the scoring in the 10th minute and Orlando McKenzie doubled the advantage in the 18th minute before Tehron Brissett pulled one back in the 50th minute for Catherine Hall.
In the other encounter, Kevin Porter gave Chetwood Primary a surprise lead in the eighth minute before Shamary Blake equalised in the 18th minute for Barracks Road before Shakeem Blake scored the winner in the 24th minute.
