Are you aware, NWC?
Dear Editor,
On Tuesday, May 21, we contacted the National Water Commission (NWC) via its app and requested trucked water to our home on 19 Mile Road in Coopers Hill, St Andrew.
This was after weeks of no piped water due to another (usual) breakdown of “The Pump” which pumps water up to the top sections of Coopers Hill to the many households depending on it to fill the tanks. This water used to come in the pipes twice per week, now there is no guarantee if and when we will have water at all.
When I contacted the NWC I was given a reference number and told that a truck would come, at some point, I supposed.
There was no truck to our gate, although a few came and went that we knew of, close by on the road.
Today a truck came, but would have left us with nothing, even though they were given the reference number. We were told, “Your name is not on the list.”
The truck was about to leave when we offered money. We were desperate; we had absolutely no water apart from a bit of collected rain water. The money changed hands. Our tank on the roof and all five outside barrels were promptly filled.
That’s how it is, right? We know that now.
