Chicken Coop Caribbean chooses Christian cultivators
New York, USA — Janice Julian, founder and programme administrator for GRACE, a religious organisation, has announced that her entity is spending $750,000 to assist faith-based farmers through a number of Jamaican churches in St Catherine, Manchester, Clarendon, St Elizabeth, and Hanover, under its Chicken Coop Caribbean project.
Julian said the project was aimed at empowering struggling Christian families by giving them a start that could transform them into entrepreneurs and raise their immediate living standards.
“Under the project, recipients are given chickens, chicken feed, vitamins trays and other requirements to start a small business,” noted Julian.
She said that in addition to Jamaica, the project is underway in Grenada and would next be targeting Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
The initiative is funded by the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Queens as well as corporate partners Caribbean Food Delights and Royal Caribbean Bakery.
