PNP and JLP aspirants unite for Labour Day project in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Businessmen Paul Patmore and Devon McDaniel both participated in a project to clean up a park in Christiana, Manchester, on Labour Day.
Patmore, who is president of the Christiana Rotary Club, and McDaniel are contending to represent the People’s National Party (PNP) and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), respectively, in the Trelawny Southern constituency when the next general elections are called.
Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert resigned as Speaker of the House and MP for Trelawny Southern last year. She stepped aside after a ruling by the Integrity Commission’s Director of Corruption Prosecution, Keisha Prince-Kameka, that she be charged for allegedly running afoul of the Parliament (Integrity of Members) Act, 1973, in her statutory declarations.
Patmore, a former independent councillor for the Lorrimers Division in Trelawny Southern, has since signalled his intention to be the PNP’s standard-bearer in the constituency in the next general election, while McDaniel is vying to be the JLP’s candidate.
McDaniel is a former MP for Trelawny Southern.
