Major turnout at Manor Park for classics
The Jamaica Classic Car Club (JCCC) continues to draw significant interest at each of its monthly link-up events.
The most recent, held on Sunday, May 19, at Supervalue Town Centre, Manor Park, St Andrew, saw a large crowd in attendance for the free display.
“We saw a wide variety of cars, persons we have not seen in a long time, and some consistent members. It was really an enjoyable time with a mix of classics, exotics, and some modern cars. The sights and sounds and the environment made it a very special moment for all the car enthusiasts present,” Naresh Potopsingh, president, JCCC, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.
The afternoon event garnered attention that continued all the way into the night as the cars came and went presenting a constant rotation of vehicles to see.
“Between the classics, collectables, and exotics we had over 40 cars present,” said Potopsingh.
That list ranged from classics such as a Lotus Elan plus 2 and modern Japanese Domestic Market collectables like the Honda S2000, to exotics like the Bentley Continental GTC and even a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder.
Beyond the impressive range of cars Potopsingh thanked his team and the venue for the success.
“We promoted the event via various channels and persons seemed to like the venue. Members were also available and willing to bring out their cars and spend some quality time with us,” he said.
Next month the JCCC will head to Hope Gardens on Father’s Day, where they will have a more interactive event.
“We have planned a treasure hunt event to make things more exciting and to involve fathers and children in an activity together. Others are welcome,” he said.
