Ability, Wall Street Trader showdown in I’msatisfied feature
The $1.4-million I’msatisfied Trophy is the main event on tomorrow’s nine-race calendar and by all accounts the six-furlong (1,200m) contest should be an exciting one, with Ability, Wall Street Trader, and Bootylicious vying for first place.
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a closer look at the runners and their chances of winning the Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward.
1. YELLOWSTONE: (5 ch g by Sensational Slam – Awry) – Capable runner who was fourth behind Is That A Fact and Bootylicious in the Reggae Trophy over the straight on May 4. With Bootylicious present here, the chances of Yellowstone winning are very slim.
2. I AM FRED (USA): (6 b g by Golden Lad – Happy Hailey) – Returns to competitive racing after a 175-day break.
I Am Fred is going to need the run here.
3. ABILITY: (4 b c by Lion Tamer – Disability Charm) – Last year’s Jamaica Derby winner who now takes orders from trainer Fiztgerald Richards. Ability, previously trained by Patrick Lynch, was a winner on April 1 when putting away rivals by 8 ½ lengths over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).
Ability has been training quite well coming into this race and could make it two wins in a row. Note: Tongue-tie on.
4. WALL STREET TRADER (USA): (5 dkb/br g by
Vancouver – Selva) – Has won back-to-back races coming into this contest. Wall Street Trader has won over this distance on May 5, beating rivals by 3 lengths in a time of 1:13.1. If he can reproduce that effort, then he could be unsaddled in the winners’ enclosure when the race is over.
5. ATLANTIC CONVOY (CAN): (4 ch c by Storm Atlantic – My Sweet Emily) – Is going to be left behind in this one.
6. A GIFT FROM BEN: (5 ch m by Here Comes Ben – Sage’s Giftbox
) – Cannot win this.
7. BOOTYLICIOUS: (4 b f by Key To Power – Keep The Faith) – Came home in second place behind Is That A Fact over the straight course on May 4.
Bootylicious also goes well around the bend and is expected to run another good race here.
