PM makes changes
PRIME Minister Andrew Holness on Monday announced three changes to the executive, saying that the move is designed to “assist the Administration in more efficiently and effectively delivering its policies and programmes for the Jamaican people”.
The changes, which Jamaica House said will become effective today, see Robert Nesta Morgan, who held responsibility for information, being reassigned to the Ministry of Economic, Growth and Job Creation with responsibility for works; Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon now takes over the information portfolio in addition to her responsibility for skills and digital transformation; while Senator Abka Fitz-Henley, who in recent weeks has taken a lead role the communications apparatus of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), has been appointed parliamentary secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister.
The change in the information portfolio was expected after Morgan, the Member of Parliament for Clarendon North Central, resigned as the JLP’s public relations chairman last month.
In its release announcing the changes Jamaica House said, “The Administration is steadfastly committed to fulfilling its 2020 mandate to transform Jamaica into a peaceful, productive and prosperous nation.”
