Broadbell confirmed for Racers Grand Prix
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Commonwealth Games 110m hurdles champion, Rasheed Broadbell has been confirmed for the Racers Grand Prix set to take place at the National Stadium on June 1.
Observer Online understands that Broadbell, who set his lifetime best of 12.94 seconds while winning the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) national championships last year, will be competing at the meet for the first time.
It will also be his first race over the 110m hurdles since his first-round exit at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary last year. Broadbell failed to complete the race after taking a tumble over one of the barriers.
The sprint hurdler is expected to join a galaxy of local and international stars who have confirmed their participation at the meet. Broadbell could end up racing against Olympic champion Hansle Parchment and American Trey Cunningham.
Broadbell has only run once this season. He posted a win in the men’s 60m hurdles at the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas in February, running 7.56 seconds after clocking 7.61 seconds in the first round.
