Eight Haitians in police custody
PORTLAND, Jamaica — Observer Online understands that eight Haitians are believed to be among a group which landed illegally in the dead of night Sunday, undetected, at a beach in Hectors River, Portland.
They are now in police custody.
The eight Haitians were apprehended by the police but details of their apprehension are unclear. It is understood that they were picked up at separate locations in the Hector’s River area by the police during a pre-dawn operation.
They were transported to the Port Antonio hospital for medical treatment and check-up, shortly after 9:00 am Monday.
It is still unclear as to how many Haitians landed by boat and how many are now on the run.
They came in a 20 feet boat.
