WATCH: STETHS students advised on prudent use of social media
Fifteen student ambassadors from the St Elizabeth Technical High School were on Friday given some invaluable advice on how to use social media responsibly for their benefit while avoiding the pitfalls caused by misuse of the platforms.
The discussion was hosted by Massy Distribution at the ROK Hotel in Kingston and featured presentations by social media manager Cassandra Henry and entrepreneur Drezel Simmonds on various topics including “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Social Media”.
During the interactive sessions, students shared their relationship with the internet and expressed afterwards that they were positively impacted by the discussions.
“I enjoyed myself… The internet can be good and it can be bad at times, (so we need) to just stay safe,” one student, Jamari Russell, told Observer Online.
Tazhna Williams, Public Relations and Corporate Events Executive at Massy Distribution, stressed the importance of ensuring that teenagers are equipped with making responsible choices when it comes the social space.
“It was important for us to jump on board with this because we are in the age now where social media impacts and influences our little ones so much,” Williams said.
