Travis Greene fired up to share message of God

Gospel recording artiste and minister Travis Greene has visited Jamaica several times. His next visit, however, comes with a certain mission.

“I love the warmth and hospitality of the Jamaican people. There’s a vibrant energy and spirit here that’s truly special. As for food, I can’t get enough of jerk chicken. It’s a must-have every time that I am in Jamaica,” Greene stated in an interview with the Jamaica Observer on Friday.

Greene is among number of gospel acts, as well as ministers, who are set to participate at the three-day Mindset Conference, which is scheduled for May 20-22 at Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.

The event, which is in its first year, is being spearheaded by Delroy Escoffery of D’Empire Management.

Some of the presenters will include Jaicko Lawrence, Alex Todd, Danny Browne, and Ian Pollard. Dr Jackie Greene (Travis’s wife), Todd Galberth, Phil Thompson, Minister Marion Hall, Bishop Everton Thomas, Kevin Downswell, Sherwin Gardner, Rhoda Isabella, Alicia Taylor, and JohnMark Wiggan are among those scheduled to perform at the Mindset Conference.

According to Greene, people attending the conference will receive an inspiring and uplifting experience.

“You can expect an inspiring and uplifting experience. I’ll be sharing my journey, discussing the importance of faith and mindset in overcoming life’s challenges, and performing some of my favourite songs. It’s going to be a time of encouragement and empowerment, designed to inspire everyone to pursue their God-given purpose,” Greene shared.

Asked how much he was looking forward to the event, Greene said: “I am incredibly excited about the Mindset Conference. Jamaica holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to connect with everyone there. I’m looking forward to sharing my message and music, and to be part of such a transformative event.”

He added: “Any time there’s an opportunity to impact lives positively and share the message of hope and faith, I’m all in. Being part of the Mindset Conference aligns perfectly with my mission to inspire and uplift others.”

Greene, who started his musical career in 2007, is the founding senior pastor of the Forward City Church in South Carolina, USA.

He has released several projects including EPs, live albums and studio albums.
The Hill, released in 2015 hit #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart, so too did Crossover: Live from Music City (2017).
Intentional (EP) rose to #3, while Stretching Out (2010) topped out at #27.

Several of his songs have hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart. They include Made A Way, You Waited, Won’t Let Go, and Good & Loved. Made a Way was named Top Gospel Song of 2017 by Billboard magazine.

Greene is the recipient of several awards from the Stellar Gospel Awards. He has been nominated for five Grammys. In 2016, he was named Billboard’s Top Gospel Artiste.

Asked if awards meant anything to him or how important they were to his career, Greene said: “Awards are a wonderful recognition of the work and dedication that goes into my music, but they aren’t the ultimate goal. The most important thing for me is touching lives and making a positive impact through my music and ministry. If awards come along the way, they are just a bonus.”

Greene told the Observer that he has had a near-lifelong, active relationship with the Lord.

“I committed my life to the Lord at a very young age. After a near-death experience at the age of four I felt a deep calling and connection to God. That experience and the support of my family set the foundation for my faith journey,” he said.

On May 14 he released a book titled Are You Praying for the Wrong Thing? which is available on various platforms including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, as well as his website.
