Traffic restrictions in place as work begins on Patrick Drive in St Andrew
THE National Works Agency (NWA) has announced that effective today rehabilitative works will begin along a section of Patrick Drive in St Andrew forcing changes in the traffic flow.
According to the NWA, the eight-week-long project, which will target the section of roadway between Washington Boulevard and Conway Drive, will have some traffic restrictions.
Manager of communication and customer services at the NWA Stephen Shaw said the project will include the cleaning of side drains, milling of the asphalt surface and resurfacing of 6,000 square metres of roadway with asphaltic concrete.
He explained that due to the nature of the activities, some restrictions will have to be imposed at the intersection of Patrick Drive and Washington Boulevard.
Shaw said that regular traffic movements from Washington Boulevard onto Patrick Drive will be maintained as per the usual traffic signal cycle.
However, especially in the initial stages of the project, no traffic movement will be allowed from Patrick Drive onto Washington Boulevard.
“Motorists exiting the Patrick City community roads onto Washington Boulevard may use Daytona Drive or Duhaney Drive,” said Shaw.
“Motorists are being advised to expect some delays, consistent with construction activities, and to use alternative routes where possible. Caution signs and flag persons will be in place, on the project, to guide vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Road users are being urged to obey the instructions of the flag-persons and posted warning signs,” added Shaw.
