Indian High Commission gives dental care for Children’s Day
ST MARY, Jamaica — In recognition of Child’s Month and celebration of Children’s Day, the Indian High Commission in Jamaica in association with Ashish Medical Centre in Annotto Bay, sponsored a free dental clinic at the Mount Zion Primary School in Richmond, St Mary.
The event took place on Thursday, May 16 on the school premises.
Students, parents and staff were treated to extraction, cleaning and gel application services. Neighbouring schools also benefited from the services on offer.
The initiative formed part of the Indian High Commission and Ashish Medical Centre’s community outreach programme.
Guidance Counsellor for Mount Zion Primary, Sharlene Dennis told Observer Online that the services provided at the clinic were well appreciated.
“It is well packaged for all the relevant stakeholders’ involvement and we are grateful for today’s activities,” she stated.
The school also recognised two of its outstanding parents — Carol Campbell and Trena Badoo — who have given or have gone beyond the call of duty through their volunteerism.
Noting that all the parents have been playing their part for the holistic development of the school, Dennis stressed that these parents stood out predominantly saying “Ms Campbell and Ms Bandoo can be relied on at any time”.
The medical team was led by Dr Nagendra Babu Chandolu of Ashish Medical Centre, Dr Saranya Munnangi, and Dr Sunil Yalavarthy.
