Fashion and Homes chooses Waterhouse base
Sparked by his parents’ entrepreneurship drive, Kevin White recently officially opened a new clothing store in Waterhouse, St Andrew, called Fashion and Homes.
“What inspired me to open my store in Waterhouse is I grew up seeing my father, Robert White, having his own business in Waterhouse, and that inspired me a lot. I saw my mother having her own business from she was young. It was only right for me to do it this way.
“My mom, Yvette Francis, used to sell wipe and shine dye and I grew up seeing my father sell bleach and ice cream. It is only right for me to come back to Waterhouse and do things in a more modern way in 2024, and it is important for us to create jobs for Jamaicans,” White told the Jamaica Observer.
Located on West Bay Farm Road, Fashion and Homes gives the residents of Waterhouse and surrounding communities easy access to the hottest outfits, household items, and more.
“This is where ladies, men and kids can get the hottest and the latest designs. We also have household items like sheets, curtains, bathroom mats, you name it. We do delivery also. Here, you can get authentic stuff,” he said.
He explained that party scene is big for residents of his community and the fashion is as important as the music.
Fashion and Homes is established with the intention of becoming the go-to place to visit before taking to the various entertainment calendar events.
White explained that his roots are important to him and its remains his ambition to positively impact the community.
“Fashion and Homes could go anywhere else in the island, but we came here in the garrison. We want the garrison to feel welcome. We want people to know they don’t have to go uptown. Just come to Fashion and Homes,” he charged.
The entrepreneur also credits some of his inspiration to his uncle, Mark, who has trusted him for years with the responsibility of purchasing his clothes.
This assisted in honing his skills as his uncle is known for always looking dapper.
