Sandals, Beaches resorts fête teachers
Sandals and Beaches resorts made Teacher’s Day 2024 special for hundreds of educators with grand luncheons showcasing local delicacies, myriad entertaining performances and complimentary vacations.
At Sandals South Coast, 50 educators from Westmoreland and St Elizabeth enjoyed a five-star dining experience featuring a tantalising spread of local cuisines, along with entertainment from vocalist Abigail McLawrence and an abundance of prizes, including all-inclusive two-night, three-day stays for two at select Sandals resorts in Jamaica and dinner prizes for two from the wide selection of restaurants on resort.
“We are truly appreciative of the consideration from Sandals South Coast in welcoming us to the resort and I am sure the other teachers in attendance are too. I had a relaxing time with my colleagues and it was a day for us to unwind and let our hair down. We will continue to serve the children of the country,” said principal of Petersville Infant School Simone Quest-Osullivan.
In the Montego Bay region, 71 teachers from 10 schools in St James were treated to a luxurious getaway. Between May 5 and 10, the participating resorts — Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean — welcomed teachers for exclusive day passes.
For an entire day, teachers were invited to step away from the classroom and embark on adventures at both resorts, indulge in delectable meals at up to 12 restaurants, engage in land and water sports, savour premium liquors and mocktails at the swim-up and over-water bars, or simply relax and enjoy the ambiance of each resort.
“We are deeply moved by the gracious hospitality extended to us in celebration of Teacher’s Day 2024 by Sandals Resorts in the Montego Bay region. Words cannot fully express our elation at the exceptional amenities provided to us, beyond previous Teacher’s Day experiences.
“Thank you, Sandals, for celebrating us in such a remarkable manner and for embracing our passion and commitment to impacting lives,” said Trudi-Ann Atkinson, principal of Kiddies Paradise, following her visit to Sandals Montego Bay.
In the Negril region, Sandals and Beaches resorts celebrated with 70 educators from the parishes of Westmoreland and Hanover. Set against a backdrop of tropical luxury at the Sandals Negril tennis court, the event was staged in collaboration with the Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation.
“It was a wonderful combination of local cuisines, entertainment and surprises and we were happy to treat our teachers as their contribution to our society is immeasurable,” said Aaliyah Cunningham, regional public relations manager for Sandals and Beaches Negril.
Some 200 teachers across St Ann and St Mary were also welcomed by Sandals and Beaches resorts to an enjoyable experience, with six lucky teachers copping weekends for two at a Sandals resort.
Doctors and nurses from the North East Regional Health Authority were also present, providing medical check-ups and testing for the educators.
“We realise the importance of the teachers and the impact they have on the future generation. Our team members also had the pleasure of treating and engaging educators who would have taught them in the past, so it was a pleasure to show our appreciation,” said Charles Blacher, general manager of Beaches Ocho Rios.
