Mahogany to lead home rivals in Seeking My Dream Trophy feature
Tomorrow’s nine-race card includes the running of the $1.4-million Seeking My Dream Trophy feature which will pit the decorated Mahogany against five rivals over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500 meters).
The race is an Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward.
The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at each runner and their chances of winning.
1. MAMMA MIA: (4 ch f by Soul Warrior – Princess Geeta) – Capable filly who has notched one win from outings this season.
Mamma Mia’s win came over this distance on March 30 when she made all the running to beat rivals by a length in 1:35.0.
Mamma Mia consistently demonstrates a preference for leading from the front, and with her current form and being well prepared, she is a strong contender for the top spot here.
2.TAURUS BOY (USA): (6 b h by Speightster – MC Duffie) – Has no realistic chance of winning this one.
3. SONNY T AND CHIPPY: (5 b h by Savoy Stomp – Trinket Box) – Did extremely well to reach this grade. Sonny T and Chippy won going nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) on April 13 by 1 ½ in a time of 2:00.0. Although he is a consistent and versatile competitor who can lead or stay close to the leaders, he is not expected to impact on this race.
4. FURTHER AND BEYOND: (6 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble) – Former Horse of the Year who has been doing very well in his races of late.
Further and Beyond has secured one win and two second places from four starts this season. His win was a dead-heat finish with Atlantic Convoy over 7 furlongs (1,400m) on February 24. Despite not being as dominating as before,
Further And Beyond remains a contender in this race. Note: Visor removed.
5. DIVINE FORCE (USA): (4 b c by Alternation – Dance America) – Finished in sixth position behind Desert of Malibu in his first run at this level in the St Cecelia Cup on March 23.
Divine Force, while is not expecting to win, he still can make the frame here.
6. MAHOGANY: (7 ch g by Sensational Slam – Mete-Orite) – is without a doubt the standout horse in this race. Mahogany returns here for his second outing this season after making his seasonal debut 35 days ago when he finished third over 6 furlongs behind Desert of Malibu and
A Gift From Ben. However, Mahogany was promoted to second place after the winner was disqualified for causing interference to him at the furlong pole. Mahogany is expected to be sharper for this race and despite carrying weight of 57.0kgs (126lb), his class alone should put these away.
