Don Corleon set to release new rhythm project
Music producer Don Corleon is set to release a new one drop reggae project called Finally rhythm.
The legendary producer, who rose to fame in the early 2000s and has a string of hits and gold- or platinum-selling singles to his credit, has kept a busy pace in production over the years, working with several well-known local and international acts.
In a post on his official Instagram account on Thursday morning, Don Corleon (real name Donovan Bennett) wrote: “I am one song away from completing my new reggae riddim. You asked for it!! So, I delivered. Coming soon. All for the culture I love so much.”
This followed a May 1 tease in which Bennett posted: “New one drop riddim on the way. Some nice new talent on it.”
It is understood that several popular and up-and-coming acts are featured on the project, including reggae artiste Pressure Busspipe. A photo of the St Thomas, US Virgin Islands artiste and Bennett inside a recording studio is posted on Bennett’s Instagram page.
Bennett, who was a member of the Vendetta sound system before he embarked on a journey in music production, is known for producing several early hits for dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel. They include Why You Doing It and New Millennium (both featuring Wayne Marshall) and I Neva.
Other popular rhythm projects credited to Bennett include Seasons, Junkanoo, Sweat, Changes, and Drop Leaf.
The Seasons rhythm spawned the hit singles Tears by TOK, I Believe by Wayne Wonder, How Come by Morgan Heritage, Far from Reality by Natural Black, Love Is by Jah Cure, and Thanks and Praises by Fanton Mojah.
Songs including Bad from Mi Born and Earthquake, which helped to propel dancehall artiste Munga to fame, were also produced by Bennett.

The Changes rhythm saw hits from Jah Cure (You’ll Never Find), Getty Getty No Wantee by Tarrus Riley, and Blood Shed by I-Octane.
Bennett also scored big with the Junkanoo rhythm which spawned the chart-toppers Hey Ladies by TOK, Party On by Jovi Rockwell, Make Them Come by Wayne Marshall, and Do What You Feel Like (Just Dance) by Voicemail.
Probably his most commercially successful rhythm project, the Drop Leaf rhythm, released in 2005, scored big with TOK’s Billboard-charting hit
Footprints, Your Best Friend by Morgan Heritage, Longing For by Jah Cure,
It’s Okay by Bounty Killer, For the Leaders by Luciano, Intoxication by German reggae artiste Gentleman, and Be Strong by Sizzla.
On the international side, Bennett produced the song Hideaway by reggae group Common Kings, Rise on Top by Rebelution (featured on their 2018 album Free Rein), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) gold-certified Break it Off by Sean Paul and Rihanna, Keyshia Cole and Sean Paul’s (When You Gonna) Give it Up to Me (certified gold in the US), and Hawaiian reggae artiste J Boog’s Let’s Do it Again (certified silver in the UK and platinum in the US).
