17-y-o charged with murder following stabbing death of female schoolmate
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The 17-year-old boy who was taken into custody following Monday’s stabbing death of 20-year-old student, Akeilia White, has been charged with murder and wounding with intent.
Reports from the Mandeville police are that about 11:50 am, an argument developed between the now-deceased and another student. The teen reportedly left the area and later returned with a knife, which he allegedly used to inflict wounds to White’s upper body and the shoulder. Another male student, who tried to intervene in the dispute was also stabbed in the incident.
White and the injured boy were taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead; the other student received treatment.

The accused was held shortly after the incident and handed over to the police.
He was taken to the Mandeville Parish Court and was remanded until Tuesday, June 4.
