ZJ Sparks first up for Regency Fridays
Lij Keith, the newly appointed general manager of Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel in Kingston, is looking to give seasoned and emerging disc jockeys a spotlight and revamp the entertainment offerings at the Regency Bar & Lounge with the introduction of Regency Fridays.
The series kicks off today with ZJ Sparks from 5:00 pm to 2:00 am.
“The concept behind Regency Fridays is to have a different DJ on show every Friday in order for our clients to have a different experience every week; a different energy, a different following. Each DJ carries their own following, so, we want to keep it fresh, we want to keep it alive, we want to keep it vibrant, and so we don’t want any feeling of sameness to be creeping into Regency Fridays,” Keith told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
To kick-start Regency Fridays, the managing director noted that ZJ Sparks was hand-picked to deliver the first experience.
“We’re going to touch all the genres, and we’re just going to create the highest energy while enjoying all the offerings there is to enjoy,” he reasoned.
Prior to this, the same DJ performed at Regency each week. However, with the introduction of a fresh series and its diversified talents, Keith believes it will be a win-win for the attendees as well as the DJs.
“I’ve been here [at Terra Nova] for a month, and I’ve been observing looking at the areas of opportunity, and so I feel like now is the perfect time after observing to hit the reset button on certain events, and to throw a new energy to certain events.
“Right now, in the the genesis of Regency Fridays, the idea was to work with certain radio personality DJs because it’s a new event, so I needed to work with certain DJs that can help me to promote it. That doesn’t mean that I will only be working with radio personality DJs. There are excellent DJs that are out there that are not on the radio, that are not necessarily household name DJs, and I will be giving them an opportunity,” the managing director added.
Keith is encouraging new and regular patrons to attend the weekly series in order to indulge in what promises to be a memorable time.
“Regency has a very good history. For those who remember Regency prior to COVID, they’re going to be able to have an experience that will not only match that time… but it’s going to surpass that time in terms of our drink offerings, in terms of our food offerings, in terms of our service, and certainly in terms of our entertainment offering,” he said.
