Kamila’s Kitchen to open doors to second location at Marketplace
Plant-based restaurant Kamila’s Kitchen is opening the doors to its second location at Marketplace on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.
A grand celebration will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, coinciding with Mother’s Day and marking owner Kamila McDonald’s 40th birthday. The restaurant will open its doors to the public on May 14, 2024.
Founded and built by Kamila’s parents Errol and Kerida McDonald, the restaurant has built a strong reputation, captivating both locals and visitors with its distinctive culinary delights and idyllic ambiance – its original location at Skyline Levels in Jack’s Hill, St Andrew, garnering acclaim for both its exceptional food and vibrant entertainment.
“At Kamila’s Kitchen, we’re not just serving meals; we’re serving a movement,” Kamila said in a press release announcing the second location.
Kamila is a respected nutritionist whose expertise and personal journey in wellness and plant-based nutrition have been fundamental in shaping the restaurant’s mission. Her knowledge not only influences the menu’s creation but also ensures that each dish is a testament to healthful, mindful eating, the release stated.
“Our mission is to debunk the myth that healthy food is tasteless and unsatisfying. We’re here to make plant-based cuisine irresistible, proving that food can be both nutritious and delightfully flavorful,” Kamila said.
According to the release, the new location at Marketplace promises an array of dishes that cater to both dedicated plant-based eaters and those curious about this healthy, vibrant lifestyle.
“Each meal is crafted with passion and love, aimed at fueling the vibrant life we all deserve,” Kamila said.
The release further stated that, from innovative takes on Jamaican classics to daily specials, the menu is designed to entice and introduce a broader audience to the joys of plant-based dining.
Kamila’s Kitchen is deeply committed to the ‘farm to fork’ philosophy, emphasising local sourcing and sustainability.
“This expansion is a testament to our dedication to promoting wellness and supporting our local community and environment,” Kamila said, underscoring the restaurant’s role in fostering sustainable eating practices.
According to the release, the grand opening on Saturday will not only celebrate the launch of the new location but also honor the nurturing spirit of mothers and the communal joy of shared meals.
Looking forward, Kamila envisions Kamila’s Kitchen playing a pivotal role in Kingston’s culinary landscape, continuing to inspire and foster a community around healthful, conscious eating.
“This is more than a restaurant; it’s a place where food, culture, and wellness intersect, inviting everyone to explore and enjoy the bounty of the earth,” she said.
