Ky July reps ‘Bloodline’
Dancehall artiste Ky July is excited about the response to his latest single, Bloodline, a hard-hitting song with grimy lyrics and an infectious chorus that is generating a lot of heat in the streets.
“The response has been better than expected, and I am currently working consistently to push them to the altitude that they deservingly should be. My songs are based on my previous experiences and my determination to change the lives of my family and friends,” the artiste, whose real name is Kyle Nicholas Bernard, said.
Other singles include Distance and Cheat Code which have been generating streams on Spotify and other streaming sites.
Ky July has developed a bit of a reputation for releasing songs with unusual emotionally charged titles such as Die Young, Dark Clouds and the Godzilla Mouth.
“I name all my songs based on the mood or the aura of the song and whatever I am talking about in said song,” he said.
He grew up in the communities of Portmore, Spanish Town and Duhaney Park. During his teenage years, he attended Kingston College and Calabar High. He attended a church, landing a spot on the choir and eventually becoming its lead singer. He even wrote songs for the choir as his songwriting skills grew.
While in high school, he excelled in competitive football but music remained his first love. He christened himself Ky July, and worked assiduously on his craft during his teenage years, visiting studios in Kingston.
Eventually, he recorded and released his first song She Wah Me featuring Kling aka Prince Pine in 2013.
Fast forward a few years, and he recently released an 18-track EP dubbed The Missing Link that is now available on all streaming platforms. The EP was released under the management of Sam SkillingtonMusic.
Ky July has been steadily building his audience through his daily interactions with his fans through his social media pages.
“I want to make my name a household name and build a brand/business, and ultimately create a progressive change in the direction of my sound and music,” he said.
