Farewell to a towering figure
Dear Editor,
It is with a heavy heart that I pen this tribute to a man of great faith and exceptional character, the late Bishop Dr Ronald Blair.
His departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, including myself, as we remember a life dedicated to discipline, meticulousness, and respect.
Bishop Blair was a towering figure in the religious community, serving as the national overseer of the New Testament Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. His voice, a beacon of hope and wisdom, resonated through the airwaves on his popular radio programme
Love 101, where he skilfully unfolded the word of God, touching countless lives.
As the district overseer of the Portmore district of churches, Bishop Blair’s leadership was marked by an excellent relationship built on mutual respect and shared devotion to ministry. His wise counsel was a source of strength and guidance and his infectious laugh a reminder of the joy found in faith.
His unwavering commitment to his calling was evident in every aspect of his life. Bishop Blair and his wife exemplified a partnership grounded in love and service, setting a standard for many to aspire to.
His absence will be deeply felt, not only in the pulpit and on the radio but in the quiet moments of reflection where his words of encouragement and insight often provided solace and direction.
As we bid farewell to this spiritual giant, let us honour his legacy by emulating his virtues and continuing the work he so passionately carried out. Bishop Blair may have left this Earth realm, but his impact will forever be etched in the annals of our nation’s spiritual history.
Thanksgiving service for the late Bishop Blair will be held at National Convention Centre Roden Penn, Old Harbour on May 11.
May his soul rest in peace and light perpetually shine on him.
