Scotch Boyz expands distribution into 300 new US stores
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Jamaican sauce maker Scotch Boyz is expanding distribution across the United States as it is set to launch the product in 300 World Market stores throughout the North American country.
Scotch Boyz co-founder Neil Hudson made the disclosure to the Jamaica Observer on the margins of the ongoing Ernst & Young (EY) Caribbean Strategic Growth Forum in Montego Bay, St James.
“We just got into World Market, which is another 300 stores, and we have a big distributor, KeHE, which has 30,000 customers, who are working with us to get us into [those stores],” Hudson said.
It is the latest move by the sauce maker to meet growing demand for its products.
In April of last year, Scotch Boyz launched in 600 stores of US retail giant Target through the support of the Shae Moisture Next Black Millionaire’s programme.
The company, which sources raw materials from over 200 local farmers, also entered into a partnership with Agro-Investment Limited that will see it ramp up its agro-processing operations through the lease of five acres of land at Ebony Agro-Park in Clarendon. It is using the land for the cultivation of a variety of Scotch bonnet peppers which feature heavily in its assortments of sauces and jerk seasoning
The Scotch Boyz Jamaican jerk seasoning was ranked 29 on US-based People Magazine’s top 50 food favourites in 2023.
While the company continues to pursue partnerships to expand its distribution, it is also looking to diversify.
“We are also working on new products outside of sauces, so look out for that,” Hudson told the Observer.
Scotch Boyz is among the nominees for EY Entrepreneur of the Year Jamaica, the winner of which will be announced Saturday at an awards gala that will bring to a climax the four-day Strategic Growth Forum at Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall.
According to the Scotch Boyz website, the company can produce up to 80,000 bottles per day.
