Waterhouse advance to semi-finals in Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Waterhouse are through to the semi-finals of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League after a 2-0 win over Tivoli Gardens in their second-leg quarterfinal to advance 3-1 on aggregate.
The match started off on a bad note as Nickala Fuller was rushed to hospital after being on the wrong end of a challenge.
The Drewsland-based club made the breakthrough as early as the 15th minute as marksman Javane Bryan fired past Tivoli goalkeeper Diego Haughton.
Andre Fletcher almost doubled their lead minutes later but was unable to keep his shot down.
However, he would make amends just before the break when he latched on to Bryan’s cross and found the bottom corner with ease.
Waterhouse almost put the icing on the cake in the 63rd minute when Denardo Thomas cut inside and fired a powerful shot but it went inches over.
Tivoli pressed constantly to find a goal but only Rodico Wellington’s free kick in the 85th minute troubled goalkeeper Kemar Foster.
Waterhouse will now play defending champions Mount Pleasant in the last four next Sunday.
