KFC providing $700k in sponsorship for Child Month activities
RESTAURANT giant KFC Jamaica is back on board as a major sponsor of the National Child Month Committee’s 2024 initiatives.
May is celebrated as Child Month and this year’s theme is ‘Stand Up! Speak Out! Protect the Rights of Our Children’.
As a partner for this year’s Child Month initiatives KFC’s sponsorship will amount to $700,000 – $200,000 in cash and the rest covering meals for care packages to be given to children in need.
KFC Jamaica’s partnership with the National Child Month Committee started during the COVID-19 pandemic through its meal sponsorship of the Children’s Pickney Party & Talent Showcase in 2020. The company has been an annual sponsor since.
The National Child Month Committee was established in 1953 with a mandate to create programmes during Child Month that promote the social, mental, and physical wellness of children. The committee plans and executes youth initiatives throughout the year, commencing from as early as Child Month in May to Youth Month in November.
Representing KFC Jamaica at the National Child Month Launch recently, Restaurants of Jamaica Brand Manager Andrei Roper said the company is honoured to partner once again with the National Child Month Committee.
“Preserving the rights of our children remains of the utmost importance to us at KFC. We realise that there are those children in our society who are particularly at much greater risk, and we at KFC intend to do our part — alongside the National Child Month Committee — to help ensure that these children receive the assistance they so greatly need,” said Roper.
He added that KFC Jamaica remains committed to child development as it firmly believes every citizen has a responsibility and an obligation to ensure that children are provided with the best environment to learn, grow and thrive.
“Through this partnership we aim to provide a safe and secure environment so children can receive the love, guidance and support they deserve so they can all reach their full potential,” added Roper.
In the meantime, Nicole Patrick-Shaw, new chairperson of the National Child Month Committee, expressed her gratitude to KFC.
“KFC has been a fabulous partner for us, especially during our challenging moments during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are happy to have the team at KFC on board again for this year’s initiatives as they have always been a generous sponsor.
“The children are always excited to receive meals from KFC, and it brings us joy that they play such a large role in making the children feel like a big deal,” said Patrick-Shaw.
