Tevin Richards: Canada run with Pablo YG a success
Tevin Richards, the St Ann-based producer who is principal of Young Generation Fraternity (YGF) Records, is on a high after a fruitful Canadian tour alongside dancehall deejay Pablo YG.
The tour, which started on March 29 concluded on April 21, saw the team appearing in Edmonton, Toronto, Brantford, Chatham, Niagara Falls, and Mississauga.
“Working with Pablo YG is refreshing. It’s like creating a brand from [the] start. Every milestone is like a level up, so it’s a good feeling knowing that I’m very impactful in his career. I’ve seen success with him, and knowing that we, as a team, created that. It’s a good feeling and he’s young. I tell myself that if I plan to spend the next 10 years in the business, at least I’m seeing something that I’m creating. It’s like creating a legacy,” Richards told the Jamaica Observer.
The aim of the tour was to promote the deejay’s Richer N Richer EP.
Richards also said that they are working on Pablo YG’s first album set for release in 2025.
The producer has seen a list of other accomplishments, with one of the most notable being the release of Narcissistic, a collaborative effort featuring dancehall acts Valiant and Stalk Ashley.
With over 27 million views on YouTube and almost seven million streams on Spotify since release, the track is arguably one of the biggest hits to come from YGF Records.
The list of hits go even further back, with other notable releases being the 2018 EPs Gifted and Growth, which featured artistes such as Shenseea, Devin Di Dakta, Vershon, and African dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
“My recipe for success is to keep proving the naysayers wrong. Throughout my career, I kept dreaming and my dreams are turning into reality,” the producer said.
Richards has worked with a host of other talented acts such as Vanessa Bling, 450, Byron Messia, Jahmiel, and Jahvillani.
