Kiwanis Club of West St Andrew builds foyer for Cooreville Gardens Basic School
IN line with its dedication to enhancing the holistic well-being of children, the Kiwanis Club of West St Andrew (KCWSA) recently presented a brand new 11 ft x 14 ft foyer to Cooreville Gardens Basic School. This welcoming space will create a positive atmosphere for students, parents, and staff, serving as a transition area for children moving from outdoor activities to indoor classrooms. Additionally, it will provide a comfortable waiting area for parents and visitors during pick-up and drop-off times.
Jacqueline Bennett, president of the 45-year-old volunteer club, emphasised the club’s long-standing support for the school, including consistent assistance with food items and resources for the canteen. Last year, the volunteer group solicited the help of the JAHJAH Foundation to purchase a new refrigerator for the institution.
“We are committed to creating a nurturing and accommodating learning environment for these young children, and this foyer will significantly contribute to that goal,” Bennett said.
“Our efforts align with our international mandate to ‘serve the children of the world’, and we strive to positively impact their learning experience.”
Bennett expressed gratitude to National Baking Company for their substantial financial support to purchase construction materials for the foyer project.
“We are incredibly thankful for their swift response. This collaboration showcases the power of strategic partnerships in generating greater impact on our children’s well-being. By pooling our resources, we have demonstrated what can be achieved when organisations work together towards a common goal,” she said.
Meanwhile, Sonia Hyman, school board president, expressed her gratitude,
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Kiwanis Club of West St Andrew for this incredible gift. The foyer represents the love, care and commitment the club has shown to our children and community,” she said.
