Geneva Ayre expands reach with Tremble
A formally trained musician, Geneva Ayre says she has been writing music since her early teens. However, the devout Christian is not averse to covering songs that spread the word.
That is what she did with Tremble, a song originally done in 2016 by Mosaic MSC, an American gospel quintet from California. Her version is produced by her husband, Andrew Ayre.
“Tremble serves as a powerful reminder of Jesus Christ’s omnipotence, urging listeners to entrust their fears to Him for peace. Though I’ve been writing music since age 14 [and] my inclination leans towards recording original compositions, I have recently found joy in covering songs that have deeply resonated with me in hopes that they will be a blessing to others as they have been to me,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
Ayre has been recording steadily over the past 19 years. She started with “various groups” while attending Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts (EMCVPA), but went solo four years ago with I See Jesus being her first released song.
That was followed by King of Glory and an arrangement of the hymn All Away. Those songs are produced by Andrew Ayre, who is also a graduate of EMCVPA and founding member of gospel band Pentateuch.
Raised in Portmore, St Catherine, Ayre revealed being ‘saved’ at age 14 and has been a committed Christian since.
Still, religion does not limit her appreciation for music.
“I approach music with an eclectic mindset, allowing it to flow naturally, rather than confining it to specific genres or styles. I’m grateful for the journey of faith that I continue to walk,” she said.
