Literature submissions
Call for submissions for Caribbean journal on now
The literary journal BIM: Arts for the 21st Century is currently inviting submissions to be considered for publication in its April 2025 issue. The journal accepts submissions that focus mainly on literary, artistic and other cultural expressions within and about the Caribbean and its diaspora. Short fiction, poetry, academic essays and critical reviews of high quality are welcome.
BIM: Arts for the 21st Century is currently published once a year, online at: https://www.bimmag.org/ and on occasion via its print journal as well.
The magazine has introduced and nurtured several generations of Caribbean writers and artists since its inception in 1942 and aims to continue this splendid tradition with its April 2025 edition.
This call for submissions is an open call but it is to be noted the intention of featuring three special sections in the issue. The first will feature material from the BIM archive. The second will take as its focus the discussion of the period of enslavement and reparatory justice. While the third will concentrate on new writing (plays, playwrights, history, criticism and aesthetics) for the stage.
Manuscripts should be previously unpublished, double-spaced and not exceed 3,500 words. Three to five poems will be accepted; short fiction, short play-scripts and essays should be 2,500-3,500 words.
Submissions should be sent as an electronic text file in Microsoft Word format and by email to Esther Phillips, Editor: eephillips7@hotmail.com. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2024.
Guest editor of this special issue is C M Harclyde Walcott.
