Grange Hill businesses ordered closed after fatal shooting of student
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Following the shooting death of a male student of the Grange Hill High School, Westmoreland and the injuring of another female student Thursday afternoon, businesses in the crime plagued community have been ordered closed.
The identity of the deceased student is still unknown. However, residents told Observer Online that the teen is in the 10th grade and resides in Race Course, in the community.
Our news team was present in Grange Hill town and witnessed a police driving around with a town crier about 7:00pm belting out “close up, close up!”
Several businesses were seen closing their doors hurriedly as they complied with the instruction.
The community has been impacted by a series of criminal activities and the business sector continues to suffer.
The student’s death comes on the heels of a series of violence amongst our nation’s school children.
