Racing rebound to beat Chapelton in JFF Championship
RACING United rebounded from their loss to Reno FC to beat Chapelton Maroons 2-0 in their Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championship second-round game, played at Turners Field in Chapelton on Saturday.
Racing United, who improved to 43 points from 17 games, increased their lead over Tru-Juice FC who were upset by Brown’s Town as they jumped two spots into third place in the tables.
Tru-Juice are still in second place on 37 points, with Brown’s Town in third on 29 points — one ahead of Baptist Alliance’s 28 — with Chapelton slipping to fifth place on 27 points.
Brown’s Town avenged their first-round 1-0 loss to Tru-Juice FC with back-to-back wins while Baptist Alliance and Meadforest FC ended 0-0, the same scoreline between Reno FC and Faulkland FC in their western derby.
Falmouth FC moved further away from relegation danger following a 1-1 draw with Petersfield FC, coming from behind at home after they had lost the first-round game at Petersfield.
Robinho Dunn had given Petersfield the lead in the 16th minute but Akeem Hastings drew Falmouth United level in the 31st minute.
Gray’s Inn snapped a five-game non-win skid to beat St Bess United 2-0 at Lacovia Community Centre, and avenged their first-round 3-0 loss to the St Elizabeth team.
