PNP expresses condolences on the passing of former MP Princess Lawes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party (PNP) has expressed sadness at the passing of former Member of Parliament for St Ann North Western Princess Lawes.
In a statement to media Monday morning, the party said her departure leaves a “void not only in the political landscape but also in the hearts of those who knew her and benefited from her dedicated service”.
“Princess Lawes broke many barriers and made history as the first Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) member to secure victory in the North West St Ann constituency. Throughout her career, Princess Lawes exemplified compassion and unwavering dedication to the people she served. Her advocacy for women, children, and the marginalised, resonated deeply with many,” the PNP said.
The party noted that beyond her political achievements, Lawes served with distinction in various capacities within the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, leaving an indelible mark on the organisation and its mission.
“In this time of mourning, we extend our condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. May they find solace in cherished memories and the knowledge that her legacy will endure as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come,” the PNP added.
