Claudette Thompson is Acting DPP
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Claudette A Thompson, the senior deputy director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has been appointed the acting Director of Public Prosecutions effective Monday, April 22.
Her appointment was approved by the Governor General of Jamaica, His Excellency Sir Patrick Allen, ON, GCMG, CD, KSt. J, upon the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.
Thompson brings with her a wealth of experience and dedication to the pursuit of justice.
The interim DPP will replace Paula Llewellyn who bowed out of the position in a statement from the Attorney General’s (AG) Chambers on Sunday which said, “The Director of Public Prosecutions has advised that she is unable to carry out the functions of her office at this time.”

Llewellyn’s decision followed the Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday that the second extension of her tenure in office is unconstitutional, which the government said it would appeal.
