Bunny Shaw scores brace to bring Manchester City top of WSL, celebrates 50th goal in league
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaican striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw was instrumental in moving Manchester City to the top of the Women’s Super League (WSL) table after scoring a brace in the team’s 5-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday.
Manchester City had a great start in the match as they scored two goals in the first three minutes courtesy of Leila Ouahabi who had an assist from Jess Park, and Shaw who fired home the ball after chesting down a delivery from Lauren Hemp, a report from BBC sport said.
Shaw’s second goal came in the 24th minute after a cross from Hemp. She was substituted to the bench after the half time break, where she was seen sitting wearing a protective boot, the report continued.
The Jamaican’s performance extended her record-breaking capacity as her goal scoring tally now stands at 50 from 57 appearances in the WSL.
The other goals came from January signing Laura Blindkilde Brown who scored her first goal for Manchester City, and Park who scored from the edge of the box.
