Danielle Williams fourth in opening Diamond League meeting
World Champion Danielle Williams ran a season’s best 12.56 seconds (-0.2m/s) to place fourth in the 100m hurdles in the opening Wanda Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, China on Saturday.
Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn came from behind to win in 12.45 seconds, edging World Indoor champion Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas (12.49 seconds) while Cyrena Samba-Myela set a French national record 12.55 seconds for third.
Olympic Games bronze medallist Megan Tapper was eighth in 12.88 seconds.
Christoff Bryan finished seventh in the men’s high jump in his first Diamond League appearance, clearing 2.20m as American Shelby McEwen won with 2.27m, the same height as World and Olympic champion Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar, with Commonwealth Games winner Hamish Kerr of New Zealand placing third with 2.24m.
Danniel Thomas-Dodd was eighth in the women’s shot put with a best mark of 18.76m, with China’s Lijiao Gong winning with a season’s best 19.72m, beating New Zealand’s Maddison-Lee Wesche who had a personal best 19.63m. World Champion Chase Jackson of the USA took third with 19.62m.
