Is Cécred worth the hype?
With influencers and members of the Bey-hive going crazy about the superstar’s new Cécred haircare line, Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) decided to drown out the buzz, and go straight to a voice we can rely on: Rock-blooded beauty expert, consultant and Vogue, Elle US, and Allure contributor Kayla Greaves who put the eight-piece collection to the test. Here goes!
“I used every product in the box, minus the Reconstructing Treatment Mask (my hair doesn’t need it at the moment.)
– Overall, my hair feels great. It’s bouncy, shiny, and hydrated, but not weighed down.
– The brand’s fragrance Temple Oud is a 10/10 for me.
Product Reviews:
1. Clarifying Shampoo & Scalp Scrub: Did its job, and didn’t feel abrasive. The peppermint and tea tree oil add a cooling feeling to the scalp, which is nice. I do wish the nozzle was a bit smaller, making it easier to apply directly to your roots.
2. Hydrating Shampoo: A little goes a long way and it provides a really nice lather. My hair didn’t feel dry or stripped once I rinsed it out.
3. Fermented Rice & Rose Protein Ritual/Silk Rinse: You have to trust the process with this duo because my hair felt dry and stiff after I applied the treatment and I was like WTH? But once I followed up with the Silk Rinse my hair was soft. My only critique was the 28ml Silk Rinse packet didn’t feel like enough product for me to adequately coat each strand, but that’s because I have a lot of hair.
4. Moisturizing Deep Conditioner: In my opinion, this is the star product of the line. If you’re on the fence about Cécred, but want to give it a test run — this is the product to invest in. (However, keep in mind I have thick, curly hair. So if you have fine strands it may not be your jam, but there’s a lighter conditioner coming soon.)
5. Moisture Sealing Lotion: I was nervous about this product weighing my hair down, but it did the opposite. I parted my hair into four and added a quarter-sized amount to each section (along with a heat protectant from another brand; Cécred doesn’t currently offer one) before blowing my hair out. My hair was left soft, moisturised, and weightless.
6. Nourishing Hair Oil: I used this one the morning after to separate my curls and it didn’t leave my hair feeling greasy or weighed down. Like everything else, it smells very, very good.
