Nike unveils Paris Olympics kits
Athletic footwear and apparel brand Nike has unveiled the 2024 Paris Olympics kits for athletes who will be taking part in track and field, basketball, football and skateboarding events during the July Games.
A report from CBS Sport said that Nike’s Olympic uniforms were created in conjunction with the Nike Sports Research Lab in Beaverton, Oregon where athletes went through testing and data collection so the uniforms could be designed specifically to help the competitors perform at the highest level.
The kit was reportedly dubbed the “party print” by athletes who saw the design ahead of the unveiling on Wednesday.
Athletes such as basketball stars LeBron James and A’ja Wilson, and World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson will be seen decked out in the Nike kits for their respective events during the Olympics.
“On the apparel side, why it’s a game-changer for us is because we’ve now been able to take athlete insights, along with data and use that algorithm to create something that allows us to get to a level of specificity, fidelity and accuracy that we’ve never been able to do before,” Janet Nichol, vice president of apparel innovation at Nike is quoted saying.
In a first, Nike has also created kits only for track and field athletes who make it to the final events, CBS Sports revealed.
According to the report, Nike used advanced body scanning and motion capturing to design the most precise uniforms that will fit both men’s and women’s athletes, as well as those competing in the Paralympics. The company also focused on creating uniforms that are unique to each sport and country.
