Bail hearing for Jolyan Silvera pushed back to May 2
A bail hearing for former Member of Parliament (MP) Jolyan Silvera, who is charged with the murder of his wife Melissa, has been pushed back to May 2.
The matter was scheduled for Thursday in the Home Circuit Court but did not proceed due to outstanding documents.
Melissa Silvera was found dead in the couple’s Stony Hill, St Andrew, home on November 10, 2023. It was initially assumed that she had died from natural causes. However, an autopsy report revealed that she had died from gunshot wounds.
As a consequence, the police elevated the investigation into a murder investigation, and Jolyan Silvera was charged in January of this year.
He is being represented by King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and attorney Patrice Riley.
